The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team has unveiled its nonconference schedule ahead of the 2025-26 season. It will again be a home-heavy slate with the Rainbow Warriors playing all but one of their 10 noncon games at Bankoh Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center.
After opening the regular-season at Oregon on Nov. 4, UH will play its next 11 games at home with nine of them being nonconference matchups. UH's season opener will come on Sunday, Nov. 9 versus East Texas A&M and will be part of a schedule that sees the 'Bows play seven games within the friendly confines of Bankoh Arena in the month of November.
UH has built a talented and experienced roster during the offseason. Of the team's 13 players, nine are newcomers, including six Division I transfers.
A Rare Road Opener: For the first time in two decades, the Rainbow Warriors will open the regular season on the road. UH travels to Eugene for a tough road test against perennial NCAA Tournament squad Oregon on Nov. 4. The last time UH opened the season on the road was in 2006 and it will mark just UH's sixth road opener in more than 55 years. The November 4 regular-season season start date is also the earliest in program history. Oregon holds a 6-5 advantage in the all-time series with the teams last meeting in 2019 in Eugene with the Ducks prevailing.
The Tradition Continues: The nation's longest running preseason tournament continues with the 59th edition of the OUTRIGGER Rainbow Classic, Nov. 12, 14 and 15. The Rainbow Warriors captured the tournament for the 16th time last year and will defend its title in 2025 with a field that includes Manhattan, Mississippi Valley State, and Utah Tech. Both Manhattan (2000) and Mississippi Valley (2022) will make their second appearance in the Classic. Meanwhile, UH and Utah Tech will clash on the hardwood for the first-time ever.
Better Late Than Never: The 'Bows will face a formidable Big 12 opponent when it hosts Arizona State on Nov. 20. The Sun Devils have been to the NCAA Tournament three times under head coach Bobby Hurley. Five years ago the Sun Devils, who were off back-to-back NCAAs, were scheduled to compete in the 2020 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic. However, the tournament was ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Five years later, ASU makes their way to Honolulu. It will be the first meeting between the programs since UH's 90-73 win in the opening round of the 1998 NIT.
Intra-island Matchups: UH will host a pair of in-state rivals when they face Hawaii Pacific on Nov. 24 and Hawaii Hilo on Dec. 10. It will be the 10th all-time meeting between UH and HPU,UH will take on UH Hilo in the regular-season for the 10th time in the last 15 years. The 'Bows visited the Vulcans in Hilo for exhibition action prior to the start of last season.
A Familiar Foe: The 'Bows will take on a somewhat familiar program in North Dakota when the teams meet on Nov. 28. This will be the third time since 2012 that the Fighting Hawks make their way to Honolulu. UH associate head coach
Brad Davidson is a former North Dakota assistant who helped lead UND to their first-ever NCAA appearance in 2017. Meanwhile, UH transfer
Dre Bullock faced North Dakota just last year as a member of rival South Dakota.
The Past and the Future: The Rainbow Warriors will close out its nonconference schedule with a home clash against UTEP on Dec. 13. This will be the 53rd all-time meeting between the squads and just the second as nonconference opponents. The first nonconference meeting came in the 2019 Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic, a 67-63 win by the 'Bows. Prior to that, the teams met 51 times between 1980-2005 as Western Athletic Conference opponents. The teams will rekindle their conference rivalry once again next season when they both become members of the Mountain West.
UH will open its final season in the Big West conference with a pair of home games on Dec. 4 (UC Davis) and Dec. 6 (Cal State Fullerton) as part of a 20-game schedule previously announced earlier this summer.
