LAS VEGAS — The dates of the University of Hawai'i men's and women's basketball teams' inaugural appearances in the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Basketball Championships are now set.
 
The Mountain West announced the 2027 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Basketball Championships presented by Palms Casino Resort brackets on Thursday and the Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wahine will be among the 10 men's and women's teams competing at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas from Sunday, March 7, to Saturday, March 13.
 
The women's tournament begins on Sunday, March 7, and concludes with the championship game on Wednesday, March 10. The men's tournament will begin on Wednesday, March 10, with the title game set for Saturday, March 13.
 
The top six seeds in the Mountain West championship receive a bye into the quarterfinals on the second day of competition. The tournament champions earn the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA tournament.

The tournaments will air on a combination of CBS, CBS Sports Network and MW+. Tipoff times and network designations will be released at a later date.

"In evaluating our men's and women's championship formats, we considered the NCAA tournament's expanded field in addition to maximizing postseason opportunities for Mountain West teams and providing our student-athletes with meaningful postseason competition. This format enhances the championship experience by creating additional opportunities to compete, extend seasons, and be part of the excitement and visibility that comes with postseason basketball in Las Vegas. As we do every year, we will continue to study the behavior of both the men's and women's NCAA basketball selection committees to ensure that our championship format gives the Mountain West the best opportunity to secure multiple NCAA bids at the highest seeds possible."  

UH is among three new Mountain West members in the 2026-27 season. The Rainbow Warriors captured the Big West Men's Basketball Championship crown in March to earn the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2016. The Rainbow Wahine won three Big West tournament titles, including back-to-back championships in 2022 and '23, and advanced to the tournament final last season. UH officially joined the Mountain West as a full-time member on July 1.
