HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team has announced the addition of 6-foot-7 guard Lueth Awan for the upcoming season. A native of Sydney, Australia, Awan brings elite length, a defensive prowess, and professional development experience to the Rainbow Warriors' backcourt.

Awan, who has three years of eligibility, arrives in Mānoa after serving as a development player for the Sydney Kings during the 2025-26 National Basketball League (NBL) season. In his role, he appeared briefly in 13 games, including playing time during the NBL Finals for a Kings squad that eventually captured the league title.

"We are thrilled to welcome Lueth to the 'Bows 'ohana," head coach Eran Ganot said. "At 6-foot-7, his length and defensive versatility make him an exciting addition to our team. He's a gifted athlete with the potential to be a great two-way player. Besides his defensive mindset, he also has natural offensive ability. Spending a season developing in a highly professional environment like the Sydney Kings should serve as a great springboard for his career here."

Prior to joining the Kings, Awan spent five years honing his game across the highly competitive Sydney basketball scene. His club career has featured stops with the Savannah Pride, Blacktown Storm, and the North Bears

Awan enjoyed a breakout campaign with the Norths Bears where his dominant play earned him a selection in the league's 2024 All-Star Five. Eventually he was elevated to the club's senior NBL1 team in 2025, before again moving up to the NBL with the Kings.

Awan is the UH's fifth international recruit this season and joins senior center Bol Dengdit, a native of Melbourne, as the second Aussie player on this year's roster.
