Kelley Rejoins Men's Basketball Staff as Assistant Coach

HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i men's basketball head coach Eran Ganot has announced the return of Cody Kelley to the Rainbow Warriors coaching staff as an assistant coach.

Kelley previously served on Ganot's staff during the 2023-24 season as an assistant coach.  He helped guide the Rainbow Warriors to its second straight 20-win campaign, culminating in a run to the semifinals of the Big West Championship. The 'Bows also captured the inaugural Acrisure Invitational in Palm Springs, Calif., to help kick off the season.

"Cody is a rising star with a tremendous basketball mind," said head coach Eran Ganot. "He achieved great things during his first stop with us and his work ethic translates directly into his coaching. He's been a part of championship-caliber teams and brings valuable international experience to our staff. Cody will be a fantastic mentor for our players and we're extremely excited to welcome him back to our 'ohana."

Kelley returns to the islands following two seasons as an assistant coach with the Ibaraki Robots of Japan's B.League. His international coaching resume also includes a highly successful run with the B.League's Chiba Jets in 2022-23, where he helped the team set a league record with 53 regular-season wins (including a 24-game win streak), capture the Emperor's Cup, and advance to the B.League championship finals.

Kelley started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Memphis, where he was part of the 2021 NIT championship team and a 2022 squad that earned a No. 9 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

A native of Gillette, Wyoming, Kelley was a standout point guard who appeared in more than 100 collegiate games. He began his career at Wyoming, where he helped the Cowboys win the 2017 CBI postseason title, before transferring to South Dakota for his final two seasons. With the Coyotes, he earned Summit League All-Newcomer Team honors and served as a team captain and starting point guard for a 20-win team in 2019-20.

Kelley holds a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Wyoming and a pair of master's degrees from South Dakota.
