IRVINE, Calif. – Hawai'i junior
Tara Wyllie earned Big West Field Athlete of the Week honors Tuesday after posting a conference-leading mark in the triple jump over the weekend at the Stanford Invitational.
Wyllie improved upon her No. 2 outdoor triple jump mark in school history by posting a jump of 12.93m (42-5.25) to place fourth in the invitational section at Stanford. She now leads the Big West in the event by .08m and came just .09m shy of the school record set by Amanda Alvarez in 2013.
The Canberra, Australia native also ranks 26th nationally in the triple jump and 16th in the west region.
In addition to sitting in second all-time at UH in the outdoor triple jump, Wyllie holds the school record in the event indoors, setting the record of 12.66m at this year's MPSF Championships. She took home the conference indoor triple jump title for the second consecutive year and has also won the Big West outdoor triple jump title, taking home the crown as a freshman in 2023.
It's the second time that Wyllie has earned Big West Field Athlete of the Week honors in her career, earning the recognition in March 2024 following the Hornet Invitational. It also marks the fourth consecutive season that a Hawai'i athlete has garnered Big West Field Athlete of the Week recognition.
