TEMPE, Ariz.—The University of Hawai'i's men's tennis duo of
Azuma Visaya and
Kosuke Nakanishi fell in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) Southwest Regionals' Round of 16 at the Kiwanis Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz. on Sunday.
Fifth-seeded Rudy Quan and Aadarsh Tripahi from UCLA and Hawai'i's Visaya and Nakanishi were locked in a battle early on, trading a couple of breaks back and forth. But the Bruins' duo held off the 'Bows to advance to the semifinals, winning 8-4.
In singles consolation matches, Hawai'i's
Toa Maeda fell to UC Santa Barbara's Lucca Liu, 6-1, 6-2, while UH's Adriano Dzenhev lost to UCSB's Karel Fromel, 6-3, 6-2,
Sunday was the final day of competition for the Rainbow Warriors. Visaya will compete next at the ITA Conference Masters Championship on Thursday, Nov. 6 in San Diego, Calif.. The Rainbow Warriors will return home to host the Hawai'i Fall Invitational from Nov. 7-9 at the UH Tennis Complex.
