CORVALLIS, Ore. – Halle Mohr extended her Big West leading mark in the discus while a trio of other throwers turned in strong days to highlight the Hawai'i track and field team's opening day of competition at the Oregon State High Performance Meet Friday.
 
For the second straight meet, Mohr posted a personal best in the discus with a toss of 56.25m (184-6) to win the event. Mohr bettered her No. 2 all-time program mark on her fifth attempt and moved just 0.19m off the school record of 56.44m set by Novelle Murray in 2007. She also leads the Big West by nearly 5.00m and moved into No. 25 nationally with her toss.
 
Samaria Vital posted a program top 10 mark with a huge PR of her own in the discus, beating her previous best by over three meters with a toss of 47.77m (156-8) to move into eighth all-time at UH. Rose Forshaw also delivered a personal best, throwing 43.65m (143-2) on her third attempt to finish eighth and make it a trio of Rainbow Wahine in the final.
 
Montserrat Montanes i Arbo kicked off the meet with a win in the hammer throw. The senior secured the victory in the rain Friday morning with a toss of 53.25m (174-8) on her sixth and final attempt and was the only one in the field with two throws over 50m.
 
A trio of Rainbow Wahine sprinters led a strong finish in the 200m dash with all three finishing in the top eight. Alyssa Mae Antolin turned in a runner-up finish with a time of 23.83 followed by Isabella Kneeshaw in fifth with a 24.46 while Amy Warrington came in eighth in 24.66.
 
Zola O'Donnell added her name to the Hawai'i top 10 list in the 10,000m, running a 38:33.67 to cap off the night.
