Weekend Wrap: Hornet Invitational

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Hawai'i women's track & field team kicked off the 2024 outdoor season with a number of Big West-leading and program top 10 marks at the Hornet Invitational.
 
The Rainbow Wahine combined to post 10 new entries to the school's top 10 list while four athletes currently hold the Big West lead in their events. Tara Wyllie opened her outdoor triple jump season by turning in the fourth-best mark in school history to take the conference lead and also sits in eighth place nationally outdoors. The sophomore took home Big West Field Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career for her efforts.
 
Helen Hoadley moved up into third all-time at UH in the pole vault, clearing a mark of 4.05m (13-3.50) and holds the Big West lead while sitting in a tie for 14th nationally. Sammie Gordon ran the fifth-fastest 400m hurdles time in school history and is the conference leader with a 59.81 and Hallee Mohr leads the Big West and ranks 20th nationally in the discus following a toss of 52.08m (170-10.00).
 
Amy Warrington and Isabella Kneeshaw led the UH sprinters with each posting two new program top 10s, while Emilie Kirk Langschwager got her collegiate outdoor track career started with the fifth-best 1500m time in UH history.
 
The Hawai'i 4x100m relay squad of Kristin Cook, Warrington, Alyssa Mae Antolin, and Kneeshaw turned in the third-best time in school history and the fastest in 39 years. The four got around the track in 46.24 seconds. The only two faster times by a UH relay came in 1983 and 1985.
