HONOLULU – Hawai'i sophomore
Tara Wyllie earned Big West Field Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career after winning the triple jump at the Hornet Invitational to open outdoor season.
Wyllie began her outdoor season by posting the eighth-best triple jump mark in the country at 12.69m (41-7.75) on her fifth attempt of the day. Her mark also leads the Big West by a wide margin and is good for the fourth-best in program history.
The Canberra, Australia native continued her strong 2024 season coming off of an MPSF indoor triple jump title at the end of February. Wyllie also won the Big West triple jump title outdoors as a freshman in 2023.
Wyllie joins teammates
Lilian Turban and
Montserrat Montanes i Arbo as current Rainbow Wahine athletes who have earned conference field athlete of the week honors over the last two seasons.
Alyssa Mae Antolin has also earned track athlete of the week recognition in the past two seasons, making it four on this year's roster who have earned weekly honors in their careers.
