Turban Earns MPSF Athlete of the Week Honors

For the second straight meet a Hawai'i track and field athlete earned MPSF Athlete of the Week honors as junior Lilian Turban took home the recognition after picking up a win in the high jump and setting a PR in the shot put at the Husky Classic.

Turban took her place among the national leaders in the high jump after reaching a mark of 1.84m (6-0.5) in Seattle on Friday. She moved into No. 18 nationally in the indoor high jump this year while improving upon her already second-best mark in program history.

The Tallinn, Estonia native then set a personal best in the shot put on Saturday with a toss of 13.29m (43-7.25), coming in sixth place.

An outdoor high jump All-American last year, Turban accomplished all of this in her first indoor meet of the season after missing the first two recovering from an injury. She joins teammate Alyssa Mae Antolin as Rainbow Wahine athletes who have taken home the weekly honor this year. It's the first time that Turban has earned MPSF Athlete of the Week honors and the fifth time in her career that she's gotten a conference weekly honor, with four Big West Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week awards.
