SACRAMENTO, Calif.— Junior sprinter
Alyssa Mae Antolin capped off her 2023 outdoor season for the University of Hawai'i track and field team by placing at No. 28 overall in the 200m of the NCAA Championship first round at Hornet Stadium.
Antolin clocked in at 23.54 and finished in fifth of Heat No. 6, and was one of seven sprinters in the top 30 to come from a mid-major. The back-to-back 200m Big West Champion from Kīhei, Maui, made her first career appearance in the NCAA Championships and was the first sprinter for UH to make the national stage since Tasha Monroe in 2005.
The Rainbow Wahine will have two more compete in the first round on Saturday, as junior
Lilian Turban will have her shot in the high jump, and fellow junior
Hallee Mohr will line up in the discus throw. Each of them are veterans of the national spotlight as they're making their second consecutive appearance in the championships.
