LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i track and field team finished their second day in California with the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate and Heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
In the precursor to the weekends' main event, senior Kristen LaCosse grabbed a top-10 finish and season best in the 100m hurdles coming across the line at 14.43. She also had a time of 25.95 (-2.9) in the 200m.
Junior Sophia Morgan also joined the list of bests today with her 2.20.06 in the 800m dash.
Sophomore Hallee Layman showed out in the discus, where she tossed a 169'6", enough to earn herself a sixth-place finish and a new personal best.
In her return to competition, senior Kathryn Philpott threw a 102'2", while teammate freshman Kiyah Bast had a toss of 128' 8" to take 15th place.

Four athletes competed in the heptathlon, while two recorded enough points to place.
In group B, sophomore Sammie Gordon earned 4548 points placing her in the tenth all-time spot for UH and third in the conference. Her highest placement came in the 200m dash with a time of 25.03, the fastest time in school-history for a heptathlon and earned her 884 points.
The other athlete to place was sophomore Anna Marx in group B with 4267 points, where her best event was the 100m hurdles, which garnered her 775 points and a time of 15.51.
The Rainbow Wahine will remain in Long Beach for the Beach Invitational over the next two days.
