LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's outdoor track and field team finished their first day of competition at the Beach Opener.
It was a limited day of competition as only javelin and hammer throwers competed, with all other events scheduled on Saturday.
Freshman thrower
Kiyah Bast etched her name into school history in her collegiate debut with a javelin throw of 143' 1". The throw put her at number ten all-time and she took third place in the event.
Freshman thrower
Lilian Turban joined her teammate with a top-10 finish of her own. She finished the event in ninth place with 129" 2".
In the hammer throw, sophomore
Montserrat Montanes i Arbo placed tenth with a toss of 162' 8". Fellow thrower senior
Kate Borsz started her season with a 19th place finish and a throw of 147' 6".
The Rainbow Wahine are back on Saturday, starting at 8:00 am HT.
