SPOKANE, WASH. – The University of Hawaii track and field team saw a school-record get shattered as sophomore
Alyssa Mae Antolin broke the 200-meter dash record on Friday at WSU Open in Spokane, Wash.
Antolin flirted with school history two weeks ago, coming up .09 shy of the record at the Air Force Invitational. With her eyes set on the top spot, she ran record destroying time of 24.68, rewriting history, securing second place, and cementing herself as the fastest 200-meter sprinter in UH history.
Also, on Friday, pole vaulters
Natasha Tehrani and
Helen Hoadley both cleared heights of 11' 9 3/4"; however, since Tehrani cleared the bar on her first go and placed tied for fifth. While Hoadley took sole possession of seventh place after a second successful attempt.
Sophomore sprinter
Amy Warrington earned a top 10 finish as she ran a personal best 59.59 in the 400-meter dash.
Sophomore
Sammie Gordon placed sixth with a high jump mark of 5' 4 1/4 ".
Tierra Sydnor mirrored her fellow jumper with a long jump 18' 0 1/2" and sixth-place finish of her own.
The Rainbow Wahine 4x400 meter relay team finished third with a time of 3:58.49.
UH will be return back to Spokane, Feb. 18-19, for the season finale MPSF Championships.
