University of Hawai'i women's track and field student-athlete
Nina Bean was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 8 Second Team.
It is the 11th time a Rainbow Wahine has received Academic All-District accolades for track and field/cross country and the first since 2013 when Samantha Balentine took home the honor.
Bean was one of just 24 student-athletes from District 8 to be recognized and is one of 13 on the second team. District 8 includes school in Hawai'i, Alaska, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Canada. The award is voted on by sports information directors from schools that make up the district.
A local product from nearby Kaimukī High School, Bean completed her senior season in 2019 for the Rainbow Wahine while majoring in marine biology. The pole vaulter improved throughout her time with the 'Bows, setting a new personal record at the Rainbow Relays by clearing the bar at 3.65m (11'11.75") this year. She competed in the pole vault in three indoor meets and seven outdoor meets during her senior season in 2019, posting a pair of top five finishes.
