SAN DIEGO – The University of Hawai'i women's track and field team opened the Triton Invitational hosted by UC San Diego on Friday with action in the hammer throw and the discus.
In the hammer throw,
Meg Jackson came up with a distance of 46.97m (154'1") on her third attempt. It was the second-best distance of her career. Also saving her best for last in the hammer,
Jada Pierce had a mark of 44.40m (145'8") on her third throw.
On her first attempt of the day in the discus,
Brittany Kamau reached 40.12m (131'7") – her second time breaking 40m in the discus this season.
Kathryn Philpott was not far behind in the discus with a career-best distance of 39.12 (128'4") on attempt number four.
The events on the track, as well as the rest of the field events, at the UCSD Triton Invitational are scheduled for Saturday, April 13.
