HONOLULU – The University of Hawaiʻi women's track and field team will head to the Bay Area for meets this week. The Rainbow Wahine will have entries at the Mike Fanelli Track Classic in Hayward, Calif. and the Stanford Classic in Stanford, Calif.
The Mike Fanelli Track Classic – formerly known as the SF State Distance Carnival – will run March 28-30 at Chabot College, while the Stanford Invitational is March 29-30 at Stanford University.
Last time out, UH hosted the Rainbow Relays at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex March 22-23. Facing competition from College of Charleston and San Jose State, UH excelled in a number of events.
At the Rainbow Relays
Raion Black won the 100m (11.88) and 200m (24.41) with personal record times. The 'Bows swept the hurdles with
Calli-Ann Abbott winning the 100m hurdles in 14.21 and
Kristen LaCosse taking the top spot in the 400m hurdles in 1:01.11.
In the pole vault,
Nina Bean and
Krista Rados set personal records by clearing 3.65m. In other field events,
Alexis Brenzil won the javelin (44.72m), and
Brittany Kamau claimed the top spot in the discus (40.62m).
The next competition on the schedule after this week's action is the UCSD Triton Invitational in San Diego April 12-13.
