HONOLULU – The University of Hawaiʻi women's track and field team will host the Rainbow Relays at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex on Friday, March 22 – Saturday, March 23. The event will mark the final home event for the Rainbow Wahine of the 2019 season.
The field for the 2019 Rainbow Relays includes Hawaiʻi, San Jose State, College of Charleston and Hawaiʻi Pacific (non-scoring).
The first event on Friday will be the Javelin at 3 p.m. with events getting underway at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday with the 2000m steeplechase. UH has hosted Sunrise Meet #1 and Sunrise Meet #2 this season, but the Rainbow Relays is the first versus outside NCAA competition at home this year.
Last time out, UH finished fourth at the Hornet Invitational in Sacramento last weekend.
Kristen LaCosse earned three top-four finishes on Saturday, securing second in the 400m hurdles and fourth in both the long jump and 100m hurdles. LaCosse currently ranks in the top three in the Big West Conference for all three events.
In the javelin,
Alexis Brenzil turned in a distance of 47.44m (155'8") at the Hornet Invitational, good for second among Big West student-athletes this spring.
After the weekend home action, UH will travel to California where some of the team will compete at the SF State Distance Carnival and some will head to the Stanford Invitational.
