IRVINE, Calif. – Sophomore
Robyn Larkan shattered her own school record in the 100-meter hurdles to lead a day of record-breaking performances for the University of Hawai'i track and field team at the Steve Scott Invitational on Saturday.
Larkan finished second in the event with a time of 13.64 seconds, taking .21 seconds off her previous program best of 13.85. The record-breaking run came despite Larkan hitting the ninth hurdle, showcasing her speed through the finish.
The hurdles group saw success across the board, as
Tara Wyllie improved her No. 6 mark in UH history with a personal-best 14.10, and freshman
Sofia Boyd notched a collegiate best of 14.77, her first sub-15 second performance of the year.
In the field,
Ava Enriquez claimed an event win in the pole vault with a season-best clearance. Enriquez cleared 4.01m (13-1.75), a mark that moves her into the No. 4 spot on the Hawai'i all-time list.
The Rainbow Wahine also found success in the relays, as the 4x100m squad of Wyllie, Larkan, AmelieFairclough, and
Isabella Kneeshaw finished third overall. The team clocked a time of 45.75, finishing just .04 seconds off their season-best mark.
The Rainbow Wahine will turn their attention to the Big West Championships, which gets underway Friday with the heptathlon before the full meet is contested May 15-16 in Irvine.
