’Bows Excel at UW Invitational; Black Sets School Record

SEATTLE - Headlined by senior Raion Black setting a school record in the 60m, the University of Hawaiʻi track and field team concluded action at the UW Invitational on Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor.

"The highlight of the day was the 60m. All three athletes leave here in the top four all-time at UH, with Raion (Black) setting her first school record," Head Coach Tim Boyce said. "As a team, we'll build on the results of these two days and work to keep improving each day."

In the 60m, Black broke the program record thanks to a time of 7.77 on Saturday. The previous school record of 7.79 was set by Ashley Satterwhite in 2013. The best 60m time for Black entering Saturday was 7.93 in 2014.

Also in the 60m, Martina Latting tied what was the previous school record of 7.79, while Kristen LaCosse turned in a time of 7.85 for fourth all time in UH history.

In addition to her standout performance on the track, LaCosse excelled in the long jump. Her mark of 5.37m (17'7.5") is the 10th best in school history for the indoor season. Calli-Ann Abbott also set a personal record in the long jump, reaching 5.34m (17'6.25").

Meg Jackson put together one of her best collegiate performances in the shot put with a distance of 12.47m (40'11").
