HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's track and field team posted a number of strong performances at Sunrise Meet #1 at the T.C. Ching Athletics Complex on Saturday morning.
"Overall, I'm very pleased with the efforts on the day across all event areas," head coach
Tim Boyce said. "This sets us up well for our first indoor meet two weeks from now."
In the open meet with entries of all ages, UH shined in a number of events.
In the sprints,
Raion Black secured the top times in the 60m (7.63) and 200m (24.81), while helping the 4x400m relay team take the top spot in 4:06.49. Also on the track, UCLA grad transfer
Jessica Cushing-murray clocked in at 10:23.30 in the 3000m in her UH debut.
Kristen LaCosse put together an all-around solid outing, winning the long jump (5.78m) and 60m hurdles (8.87), in addition to running a leg for the top 4x400m relay team and taking second in the 60m (7.71).
Alexis Brenzil, an NCAA West Preliminary Round qualifier for the last two seasons, opened her junior year with a javelin distance of 47.47m.
The first indoor meet of the season, the UW Invitational, is set for Jan. 25-26 in Seattle, Wash.
