HONOLULU -- The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team opened its preseason with the Green and White scrimmage on Friday evening in the Stan Sheriff Center. The scrimmage consisted of three eight-minute periods, with Green taking a 38-32 victory.
Â
"It's really difficult when you go against yourself in this type of competitive situation," Beeman said. "To me this is more of a night for them to have fun and to show off what they can do offensively, and work some defensive chemistry."
Â
Sophomore
Makenna Woodfolk led the game with 11 points, hitting 5-of-9 field goals and sinking one out of only two 3- point shots made in the game.
Â
Lauren Rewers, a 6-foot-4 freshman center managed four points and five rebounds down low, and converted both of her free throws attempts.
Â
The Green and White teams both shot over 40 percent from the field and combined to hit 16-of-19 free-throws (84.2 percent).
"Overall the attitude was great, the effort was great, we had some really good pieces of execution," head coach
Laura Beeman said. "We're still not quite sure how to share the ball. Point guards need a little bit more organization, and to be facilitators at times. "
Â
The Rainbow Wahine will continue their pre-season with an exhibition against UH Hilo on Nov. 1 at 5:30 pm.
