Game NotesHONOLULU-The University of Hawai'i softball team (12-9, 0-0 Big West) continues their 21-game homestand as they host one single game against Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, March 8 at 6:00 pm before beginning the Outrigger Spring Fling Tournament which runs from Wednesday March 9 - Saturday, March 12 at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. No. 22 Baylor (14-4, 0-0 Big 12), California (10-6, 0-0 Pac-12), and North Dakota State (10-8, 0-0 Summit League) will all be coming to Honolulu.
The Rainbow Wahine went 2-2 this past week, defeating Coastal Carolina twice, but falling twice to Stanford. In the four games, freshman
Sarah Muzik led UH with a .467 batting average racking up a team-high seven hits and a .529 on-base percentage. Overall, Muzik leads UH with a .333 average (22-for-66) while scoring a team-best 15 runs. Hawai'i's
Ulu Matagiese and
Rachael Turner both hit .385 in the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha tourney, each going 5-for-13. Overall, Matagiese is hitting .320 (16-for-50) while Turner raised her average to .214 (6-for-28).
In the pitching circle, freshman
Jennifer Iseri earned her first two Rainbow Wahine wins in her first two collegiate starts, helping lead UH to a 3-2 win in extra innings followed by an 8-4 victory. Both wins came against Coastal Carolina. In all, Iseri threw 15.2 innings, allowing seven runs on 16 hits with two walks and five strike outs for a 3.13 ERA. She held opponents to a .271 batting average.
Kanani Aina Cabrales struggled a bit in the circle, going 0-2 for last week. She fired 11 innings in two rough starts. Overall, Aina Cabrales is 6-4 with a 3.94 ERA in 60.1 innings pitched with 20 walks and 35 strike outs.
