HONOLULU-The University of Hawai'i softball team swept Friday's night's doubleheader dealing a pair of shutouts over Ole Miss and UMKC on the second day of the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. Kanani Aina Cabrales fired a four-hit shutout over the Rebels to win 3-0 in the first game. In the second game, Brittany Hitchcock pitched her second shutout in as many days with a 1-0 win over the Kangaroos. With the two wins, Bob Coolen earned his 900th win as the Hawai'i head coach.

Aina Cabrales earned her first win of the season in a complete-game effort. She scattered four hits with three walks and three strikeouts while facing 28 batters in the win.

The Rainbow Wahine broke open a scoreless game, posting all three of their runs in the fifth. Breanna Ojala led the inning with a good at-bat, working her way on with a walk. Sarah Muzik then ripped a single through the middle to put runners on at first and second. Lopez followed by drilling a double down the leftfield line to drive in Ojala from second. Muzik, who moved to third on Lopez's double, then crossed the plate on a wild pitch. Morales capped UH's scoring, hitting a rope to centerfield for a sac fly to drive in Lopez from third for UH's third run.

The Rebels did not go down without a fight though. In the top of the seventh, after a pop-out to third, Ole Miss loaded the bases on a hit batter, a single to left and a walk. But, Aina Cabrales settled down to end the game with a strike out and a ground out to Ojala at shortstop.

Ole Miss pitcher Madi Osias threw the first five innings and suffered the loss. She gave up three runs on five hits with three walks and five strike outs. Kayla Landwehmier tossed the final frame and did not allow a run while striking out one.

The Rainbow Wahine improved to 2-0 in the tournament and on the season, while the Rebels fell to 0-2.

Hitchcock earned her second shutout of the season with a four-hitter. She did not allow a walk while striking out four and faced just 27 batters.

Hawai'i had at least one runner on in every inning but the sixth and threatened to score in the first inning putting runners at second and third with two outs. But the Roos got a strike out to thwart the Rainbow Wahine rally.

UH's only run of the night came on a solo home run by Lopez to center field. In her first three collegiate games, she has five hits-four of which are of the extra base variety-with two doubles, a triple and a home run. She leads UH with a .556 batting average, three RBI, and 1.333 slugging percentage.

UMKC pitcher Amber Grove also fired a complete game in the loss. She spaced five hits allowing the one run with a walk and six strike outs.

With the three shutouts, the Rainbow Wahine have started the year with 21 scoreless innings on defense.

Hawai'i improved to 3-0 while UMKC fell to 0-3. The two teams will square off again on Saturday at 11:30 am.

**The Rainbow Wahine wore special Under Armour throwback jerseys for the first time ever. The jerseys were based on ones that teams in the 1990's wore.
