SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 1 University of Hawai`i men's volleyball team defeated UC San Diego, 23-25, 25-19, 25-10, 25-18 Saturday night at the RIMAC Arena. UH extends to a 12-match winning streak, improving to a 19-3, 14-2 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation record.

Taylor Averill recorded his first double-double of the season with 14 kills and a career-high 13 blocks, bumping up to sixth all-time in total blocks (365) and seventh all-time in block assists (316).
Ryan Leung stepped into the lineup additionally tallying a career-high seven kills for the 'Bows.
Sinisa Zarkovic also contributed seven kills and 13 digs.
The Rainbow Warriors opened Set 1 with a slight advantage over UCSD. However, the Tritons immediately pulled ahead with a 6-2 run to tie it midway through 15-15. From there, the Tritons remained a step ahead of the 'Bows eventually making it to set point with a four-point edge. UH recovered 24-23 with two kills in a row by Sedore and a double-block by Holt and Zarkovic, but the Tritons' wall rejected the 'Bows final attempt to tie it, taking the set 25-23.
After starting off neck-and-neck at the beginning of Set 2, UH broke away scoring four unanswered points for a 12-8 lead. The 'Bows held onto a solid lead until the end, brushing off UCSD, who matched them point-for-point in the final stretch.
UH dominated Set 3, holding the Tritons to a total of just 10 points. The Warriors struggled to maintain the lead at the start of Set 4 as UCSD tied it 11-11. However, after pulling off a 4-0 run, the 'Bows regained momentum and never looked back.
The 'Bows will have just one day off before taking on No. 12 UCLA, March 30-31 at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles, Calif.
