Game NotesHONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior baseball team continues its early season homestand this week, hosting a five-game series versus Hofstra at Les Murakami Stadium. The 'Bows and Pride will play Wednesday, Feb. 18 (6:35 p.m.), Thursday, Feb. 19 (6:35 p.m.), Friday, Feb. 20 (6:35 p.m.) and a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 21 beginning at 1:05 p.m.
Hawai'i (1-3) and Hofstra (0-3) will square off for the first time. The Pride come into Hawai'i after suffering a three-game series sweep at UCLA. The 'Bows are fresh off their four-game series vs. No. 17 Oregon, one that saw them snap an 11-game losing streak to the Ducks with an impressive 10-1 win on Saturday, their largest ever over UO.
Newcomers
Alex Sawelson and
Eric Ramirez provided the punch for the 'Bows in the middle of the order this past weekend. Sawelson led UH in hits (6) and runs (4) over the series with Ramirez batting .385 with two runs and three RBI.
Despite losing three of four, the 'Bows saw four strong performances out of their starting pitching.
LJ Brewster tossed five and one-third innings for the win on Saturday in his first career start and newcomer
Kyle Von Ruden worked five and two-thirds scoreless innings but did not factor in Sunday's one-run loss.
