Men's Tennis Downs Seattle 6-1

SEATTLE, Wash.--The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior tennis team opened its road trip with a 6-1 win over Seattle on Wednesday at the Tennis Center in Sandpoint. The 'Bows quickly earned the doubles point then dominated in singles to earn their first victory on the road. It was UH's third straight dual match win.

The 'Bows grabbed the doubles point with wins on the two and three courts. Chas Okamoto and Felix Albert teamed up at the three to win 6-2, and Kai Wehnelt and Marcel Chan won their third straight match, easily defeating John Stormans and Connor Leahy at second doubles to clinch the point, 6-1.

In singles Nils Schuhmann would give UH its first point, beating Seattle's Newman, 6-2, 6-2. The 'Bows' Lam won his match against Leahy, 6-3, 6-2. UH's Wehnelt would put the game away, defeating Stormans in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Felix and Pinola also had wins with Pinola going into three sets and winning it, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5.

The 'Bows continue their three-match road trip when they face No. 63 Washington on Thursday, Jan. 29. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. PT (1:00 p.m. HT).
