HONOLULU – The No. 8 University of Hawai'i women's water polo kicked of its Northern California road trip with a 14-12 win over No. 18 UC Davis Friday afternoon at the Schaal Aquatics Center. UH improved to 14-9 overall and remained among the upper tier of the Big West standings with a 4-1 mark.
Despite the final score, UH was in control throughout. The Rainbow Wahine led 9-4 at the half and built its lead to as many as seven goals in the third goal, before the Aggies made a late rally. With wins at UC Irvine and Long Beach State, the Rainbow Wahine remained undefeated on the road in Big West play. UC Davis (12-15, 0-6 Big West) meanwhile is still in search of its first league win this year.

Amarens Genee led the Rainbow Wahine with five goals, one shy of her career high. Four other players got in the scoring column for UH, including freshman
Paula Chillida Esforzado, who also recorded a hat trick with four goals.
Amy Carlson recorded six saves in the cage for the Rainbow Wahine.
The win marked UH's second over UC Davis this year. The Rainbow Wahine also defeated the Aggies, 14-8, at the Stanford Invitational on Feb. 3
The Rainbow Wahine will play its second Big West road match in as many days when it takes on No. 19 Pacific on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. PT (9:00 a.m. HT). UH will conclude its road trip with a pair of non-conference matches at The Bronco Tournament, hosted by Santa Clara University.
