No. 20/22 Softball Returns Home to Host Bank of Hawaii Invitational

Game Notes

HONOLULU—The No. 20/22 University of Hawai'i softball team (8-4, 0-0 Big West) returns home to begin a possible 21-game homestand—beginning this week with a single game on Wednesday, Feb. 27 against Memphis followed by the Bank of Hawaii Invitational from March 1-3. Western Kentucky, Campbell and Memphis are all coming to Honolulu for the three-day tourney at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Hawai'i had a 10-day layoff after playing six games in the Easton Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. The 'Bows went 3-3 in the four-day tournament with wins over San Jose State, No. 7 Oregon, and Utah Valley and losses coming from BYU, No. 16 UCLA, and Nevada. In the tournament, Jazmine Zamora came on strong to secure a spot at second base hitting a team-high .444 (8-for-18) with a double, two home runs and five runs scored. Overall Kayla Wartner and Kelly Majam are tied for second on the team with a .324 batting average. Wartner leads UH with 12 hits—which includes two doubles, a triple and two homers. Majam is 11-for-34 thus far and leads the 'Bows with 12 runs scored, four home runs, 11 walks, and four stolen bases. With Majam's three runs scored against Nevada, she tied and then broke the UH all-time record for runs scored with a career total of 188. The record was 187 formerly held by UH All-American Tia Morenz (1995-98). Majam entered the season as UH's career leader in home runs (now at 58) and walks (now at 128), and she is ranked No. 5 with 122 RBI as well.

Memphis Tigers (5-8, 0-0 Conference USA)
