One night after nearly winning a five-setter, the Warriors (1-6, 0-4 MPSF) came out flat and struggled offensively, hitting only .119. In contrast, the Beach (5-2, 3-1) hit a blistering .455 and tallied seven service aces and 10 blocks.

Brook Sedore came off the bench to lead UH with eight kills. Nick West had four kills and two blocks. All 14 players saw action for the Warriors as head coach Charlie Wade tinkered with the line-up trying to find the right combination.

Taylor Crabb led the Beach with a match-high 15 kills, hitting .545, and had three aces and five blocks.

The Warriors started out slow in Set 1, falling behind 17-7. UH finished hitting .040 compared to .591 for the Beach while Crabb had six kills with no errors in eight swings.

UH again got off to a slow start in Set 2 but chipped away and rallied to take a 17-16 lead. However, with Crabb serving bullets at the service line, the 49ers scored eight straight points and LBSU closed out the set on a 9-1 run for a 25-18 victory.

The Beach gained separation from UH early in Set 3 by scoring six of seven points for a 10-5 lead. UH would not get any closer than two the rest of the way.

The Warriors return to Honolulu to host Pepperdine, Jan. 25 & 27, at the Stan Sheriff Center.
