HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i sand volleyball team completed the second day of the USA Volleyball Collegiate Challenge with limited success, however good news came late in the day when the tandems of
Jane Croson and
Ashley Lee and
Emily Hartong and
Elizabeth Stoltzman earned invites to the inaugural AVCA Collegiate Sand Volleyball National Championships.
Both the duos of Croson-Lee and Hartong-Stotlzman, competing in the gold division of the flighted pairs championship of the Collegiate Challenge on Sunday, were knocked out in the round of 16 and went 1-1 on the day.
However, both pairs did enough during the year to warrant two of 16 coveted doubles berths into the nationals. Croson and Lee captured the North Florida Invitational two weeks ago, while Hartong and Stoltzman were the queens of Queen Beach on two occasions this year. The pairs championships will be held April 27 & 29 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
