Rainbow Baseball Continues Homestand Against Wichita State

Game Notes

HONOLULU – After a tough early start to the season, the University of Hawai'i baseball team has caught fire and is now set to host Wichita State riding a five-game win streak. The 'Bows (6-3) and Shockers (5-3) will play Thursday, Mar. 1 (6:35 p.m.), Friday, Mar. 2 (6:35 p.m.), Saturday, Mar. 3 (1:05 p.m.), and Sunday, Mar. 4 (12:05 p.m.).

UH is coming off a five-game sweep of Wagner College. Leading the charge is senior Collin Bennett who batted .357 (5-14) this past series and currently leads the team hitting .423. He has also posted eight RBI and two doubles this season, also team-highs. Freshman Kaeo Alivido, who had been batting a paltry .136 heading into Sunday's series finale, exploded for four hits with two runs and two RBI and reached base in all six of his plate appearances.

Matt Sisto continues to lead the Rainbow pitching staff. He has a team-best two wins (2-0) and has yet to allow an earned run in 15 innings pitched. Newcomers Scott Squier and David Longville have also found their stride. Squier tossed six shutout innings in his Saturday start for his first collegiate win, and Longville has been solid in both of his appearances out of the bullpen. Against Oregon and Wagner, he has yet to allow an earned run in 8.2 innings while surrendering just three hits and recording six strikeouts.
