EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Hawai'i track and field team concluded the 2011 NCAA West Preliminary Round Saturday at Oregon's Hayward Field.

High jumpers Sarah Saddleton and Samantha Balentine, and discus thrower TeRina Keenan failed to finish in the Top 12 of their events, which would have earned them automatic qualification to next month's NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Saddleton and Keenan both captured the Western Athletic Conference championship in their events two weeks ago in Honolulu. Saddleton tied for 32nd with a jump of 5-5 (1.65m) while Keenan finished in 37th place with a throw of 148-7 (45.30m). Balentine tied for 17th place after clearing 5-7 (1.70m).

All three athletes were competing in their second straight NCAA West Prelims. Last year, Saddleton tied for 14th, Balentine tied for 28th, and Keenan finished 19th.

A total of five UH athletes competed in the three-day meet, however, none qualified for the NCAA Championships.
