CSULA Twilight Open Results

AZUSA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's track and field team began its busy week of competition, Thursday, with three meets throughout southern California.
 
At the California Invitational in Azusa, Calif., sophomore Samantha Balentine placed 17th with 4,628 points and freshman Kaleigh Morrison was 29th with 4,149 points among 38 competitors in the heptathlon.
 
Balentine had the best high jump mark among the field with a mark of 5-8 (1.73m) while Morrison tied for seventh at 5-3.25 (1.61m). Balentine also had the sixth-best mark in the shot put at 37-1.25 (11.31m).
 
The majority of the Rainbow Wahine competed at the Cal State Los Angeles Twilight Open in Los Angeles, where Ashlee Jimenez posted the 10th fastest 400-meter time in school history at 58.41 seconds to place sixth. 
 
In the grueling 10,000-meter run, Jessica Forrester topped the field, completing the race in 39:00.44, which ranks sixth all-time.
 
A pair of Rainbow Wahine took runner-up in their respective events – TeRina Keenan in the discus at 158-11 (48.45m) and Kellsey Trimble in the javelin at 131-3 (40.02m).
 
At nearby Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., Kevyn Murphy posted a season-best time of 11:27.34 in the 3000-meter steeplechase event.
 
The Rainbow Wahine continue their road trip with the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., and Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., Friday, and the Beach Invitational in Norwalk, Calif., Saturday.
