Rainbow Wahine Look to Bounce Back at Boise State

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team (6-10, 0-3 WAC) continues its five-game road swing at Boise State (10-7, 1-2 WAC) on Sat. Jan. 15 at 6:00 pm in the Taco Bell Arena. Hawai`i fell in its Western Athletic Conference road opener at Idaho, 48-72, while Boise State overwhelmed San Jose State, 83-51 both on Thursday night.

The Rainbow Wahine look to snap a four-game losing streak as well as a 13-game road WAC slide in Boise. Last season, the 'Bows went 0-8 against their mainland foes. UH's last road conference win was a 63-61 game at Utah State on Jan. 30.

Hawai`i is led by freshman forward, Kamilah Jackson, who is averaging a double-double overall with 14.2 points per game and 12.6 rebounds per game. Nationally, Jackson is third best in NCAA DI rebounds this year. She is also ranked 13th with nine double-doubles and 35th in field goal percentage.

Senior Keisha Kanekoa is also having a solid season. She is second on the team with 12.1 points per game and leads UH with 52 assists, 27 steals, and free-throw percentage (.797). Fellow senior, Megan Tinnin is third on the squad, averaging 9.1 points per game. She also leads UH with 28 3-pointers made and has helped to crash the boards contributing 3.7 rebounds per game.

Coaches: Hawai'i head coach Dana Takahara-Dias is in her second season at UH (16-30). Boise State head coach, Gordy Presnell is in his sixth season at Boise State and has a 108-66 record with the Broncos. Overall, Presnell has been a collegiate head coach for 23 seasons and has a career record of 503-193.
 
Series Information: Hawai'i holds a 11-9 advantave over Boise State. Last season the two teams split their two games. The 'Bows dropped their game in Boise, 64-73 (Jan. 23), but UH bounced back to defeat the Broncos in Honolulu, 66-64 (Feb. 24).
