SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The University of Hawai'i softball team (22-21, 10-5 WAC) plays their final non-conference games at Santa Clara (5-40, 0-12 PCSC) in a double header on Monday, April 20, 2009 at the West Valley College Softball Field.
The Rainbow Wahine won two-of-three games to capture this past weekend's WAC series at San Jose State. The 'Bows are currently tied for second with a 10-5 record with Fresno State. Senior outfielder
Audrey Andrade led the 'Bows, hitting an even .600 (6-for-10) in three games. She scored three runs, hit two doubles, and had four RBI on her first career grand slam. Also having a solid series were freshman
Dara Pagaduan and
Makani Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu. Second baseman, Pagaduan, hit .500 (5-for-10) with a double, a triple, a home run and five RBI, while Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu hit .333 (4-for-12) with three home runs and five RBI.
On the mound,
Stephanie Ricketts went 1-1 in two complete games and came in to close the series finale. She thew a total of 15.1 innings. Sophomore
Melissa Gonzalez returned from injury to earn a win in her first pitching appearance since Feb. 14. She threw three plus innings giving up one run on four hits with a strike out.
Overall,
Amanda Tauali'i continues to lead the 'Bows with a .344 average (42-of-122). She also leads the team with three triples, 13 home runs and 32 RBI on the year. Second on the team is
Tanisha Milca who carries a .327 average into the doubleheader. She leads UH in runs scored (33), hits (48) and doubles (10). Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu came on strong against San Jose State, and she now is hitting .280 with a slugging percentage of .470. She has four doubles, five home runs and 16 RBI on the season.

Series record: UH leads the series 9-3. Earlier this season, the Broncos played in the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha tournament in Honolulu. UH faced Santa Clara once in the tournament, winning 9-0 in five innings. Last season, the 'Bows won both games in a mid-week doubleheader in Santa Clara, 9-3 and 3-0.
The Broncos, who are playing their games for the first time at West Valley College Softball Field this season, are currently going through a rough patch. Santa Clara is currently on an 15 game slide. This past weekend, St. Mary's swept Santa Clara in a four game conference series.
On Offense...
The Broncos are led Briana Knight with a .276 batting average (35-for-127). She also has team-highs in runs (14), hits (35), doubles (11), home runs (4) and RBI (20). Amanda Edmonson is second on the team with a .255 average. Edmunson has scored nine runs and has hit six doubles with four home runs this season. Emily Batt is hitting .225 (18-for-80) with 11 runs scored with a double and a home run.
On the mound...
The Broncos' pitching staff is lead by Kaitlyn Rauschnot has seen the most action this year, throwing a team-high 122.0 innings. She is 1-22 with a 7.00 ERA. Jenna Fong has thrown 110.0 innings and is 3-15 on the season with a 7.45 ERA. Lauren Passafuime is 1-3 and has thrown 27.0 innings.
