Hawai‘i Concludes NorCal Cup With 4-0 Record

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team added two more wins Sunday on the second and final day of the NorCal Cup tournament. The Rainbow Wahine (4-0) defeated Cal State Monterey Bay, 16-2, and Santa Clara, 21-6.
 
The Rainbow Wahine held the Monterey Bay Otters to one goal in building a 10-1 lead at the half. Junior Kelly Mason and sophomore Sivan Pardon led Hawai'i with three goals each as the Rainbow Wahine poured it on in the second half en route to a 16-2 victory.
 
In UH's final match of the tournament against Santa Clara, the Rainbow Wahine broke open a close 9-4 halftime advantage by outscoring the Broncos 12-2 in the second half in the 21-6 rout. UH, which scored at least four goals in each quarter, were led by Mason's five goals while Leonie van der Molen had four.
 
In the four blowout wins during the tournament, Mason and van der Molen were the team's leaders in goals with 11 and 10, respectively. Saara Majuri and Dagmar Genee followed with nine goals a piece. As a team, UH scored 62 goals for an average of 15.5 goals per match.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will continue their road trip with a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match against San Jose State, Feb. 4 at 4:00 p.m. PST.
