SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team won its first two matches of the season Saturday at the NorCal Cup tournament defeating Sonoma State, 14-1, and UC Davis, 11-7.

 

The Rainbow Wahine kept the Seawolves of Sonoma State scoreless for two quarters

until they managed to put up their first and only goal in the third quarter. For the Rainbow Wahine, it was clearly a full team effort as Leonie van der Molen, Lisa van Raalte, Dagmar Genee, Ryan Hanson-Swaner, Saara Majuri, and Carmen Eggens each scored two goals to contribute to the team's 14 points.

 

In UH's second match of the tournament against UC Davis, the Rainbow Wahine kept the Aggies at bay for all four quarters. van Der Molen and sophomore Majuri led Hawai'i with three goals each.

 

The Rainbow Wahine concludes play in the tournament at 8:00 a.m. PST against the Cal State Monterey Bay and then against Santa Clara at 1:00 p.m.
