'Bows Drop 5-2 Game To Louisiana Tech

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball (13-11, 1-1 WAC) fell to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (8-15, 1-1) 5-2 in front of a near sell-out crowd of 4,194 at the Les Murakami Stadium. Ricky Bauer (1-2) took the loss for UH while Clayton Meyer (3-3) got the win for Louisiana Tech. Steve Alverson came in for an inning to pick up his second save of the season.

Gregory Kish came up with a 1-for-3 game with two RBI, while Isaac Omura continued his hot hitting, going 2-for-3. Erik Ammon added a 1-for-3 game with a run while Matthew Inouye also went 1-for-4 with a run.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring with a run in the third and two more in the fourth to go up 3-0. Ben Tabor then hit a RBI-single in the fifth and Ryan Hamilton a run-scoring double in the eighth to push the LTU advantage to 5-0.

The Rainbows finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth, as Kish smacked a two-run single to the right side, cutting the deficit to 5-2.

But that was all that the 'Bows were able to put up as they were shut down by Alverson in the bottom of the ninth to end the game at 5-2.

The two teams will close out the series tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. at the Les Murakami Stadium.
