Rainbows Beat Fresno State 6-2 Behind Good Pitching Performance From Chris George

HONOLULU -- The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (15-27, 4-12) beat the Fresno State Bulldogs (23-22, 11-8) 6-2 at the Les Murakami Stadium Friday. The ticketed attendance for the game was 2,706. Chris George (4-3) picked up the win for Hawai`i with Ben Fritz (7-3) getting the loss for Fresno State.

The Bulldogs got on the board first with a run in the fourth inning. But the 'Bows responded as Scooter Martines and Kevin Gilbride drove in a run each to give Hawai`i the 2-1 lead. Gregg Omori then extended the Rainbow lead to 5-1 in the fifth inning with a three-run double.

From there Chris George took over for the 'Bows allowing just one run in eight innings of work, while striking out eight and walking just four.

Hawai`i was able to get an insurance run in the eighth inning when Danny Mocny doubled to right field.

Omori led the 'Bows with a 1-for-4 performance with three RBI. Martines, Gilbride and Mocny all added 1-for-3 games with an RBI each.

The Bulldogs and Rainbows will face off again tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. Sean Yamashita will pitch for Hawai`i with Bob Runyan going for Fresno State.
