RUSTON, La. -- The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (14-24, 3-9 WAC) fell to the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (17-21, 4-11) 2-1 Monday in front of 539 at the J.C. Love Field. Casey Blalock (6-5) got the win with
Ricky Bauer (1-4) picking up the loss.
Bauer went eight innings for the complete game, giving up only five hits and one earned run. The freshman also struck out four batters without giving up a walk.
The Bulldogs got on the board in the third inning when a hit and an error scored two runs to give La Tech the lead. From there it was all Bulldog pitcher Casey Blalock, who struck out seven Rainbows while walking just two.
Hawai`i got their lone run in the eighth inning when Gregg Omori drove in Brent Cook with a double. But that was all the offense they got, falling 2-1.
Hawai`i will now bus it to Houston for a three-game series with the No. 4 Rice Owls, starting Thursday, April 18 at 7 p.m.
