HONOLULU -- The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (7-11, 0-2) fell to the No. 4 Rice Owls (14-4, 2-0) 6-3 at the Les Murakami Stadium Saturday. 
Chris George (0-1) picked up his first loss while Steven Herce (4-1) of Rice got the victory. Owl David Aardsma came in relief to get the save. There were 2,855 tickets issued for Saturday's game.
Rice got on the board early as Vincent Sinisi drove in the Owls' first run in the first inning. But Hawai`i stormed back with two RBI by Lane Nogawa and Scooter Martines in the bottom of the second to hold the 2-1 advantage.
Rice would then score two runs in the second inning on an two-RBI double by Austin Davis to take the lead. The Owls then added insurance runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings while Gregg Omori drove in the last Rainbow run in the sixth.
Nogawa continued his tear with a 2-for-3, one RBI performance, while Brent Cook added a 2-for-5, one run game. Reigning WAC Pitcher-of-the-Week William Quaglieri came in relief and gave up just two runs in five innings with three strikeouts.
The two teams will close out the series tomorrow with a 1:05 p.m. game at the Les Murakami Stadium. The starters for the game are set as Aaron Pribble for Hawai`i and 6-9 freshman Jeff Niemann for Rice.
