'Bows Drop Second Game to UH-Hilo 6-4

HILO -- The University of Hawai`i Rainbow baseball team (7-15) fell to the UH-Hilo Vulcans (6-25-1) 6-4 in the second game decided Saturday at the Francis Wong Stadium. Chris George (0-2) was credited with the loss while Robert Shimabuku (1-5) got the win.

George had a great game in the loss, scoring 12 strikeouts in six innings of work. Nate Jackson, in his first action of 2002, hit 2-for-4 on the game with one putout. Scooter Martines also hit well, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

The 'Bows were behind all game and fell behind 6-1 in the sixth inning. They then got something started in the seventh inning, getting three runs, but it wasn't enough as the Rainbows fell 6-4.

The two teams will play a doubleheader tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Francis Wong Stadium. The first game will be a seven inning game with the second being a nine inning affair. Ricky Bauer will start the first game for Hawai`i, while Hilo's Wolske will get the nod.
