Biography

2012 (Sophomore): Started two matches at middle blocker…missed most of the season due to injury…appeared in six matches and played in nine sets…averaged 0.78 blocks per set…had at least one block in three matches against Stanford (Mar.7), BYU (Mar.17)…season high four blocks against BYU (March 16).

2011 (Freshman): Started 20 matches at middle blocker…appeared in 22 of 28 matches and 68 sets played…led the team with a 1.09 blocks per set average…also averaged 0.46 kills per set and hit .205…in MPSF play, averaged 1.20 blocks per set, which ranked fifth in the league…finished seventh in voting for the Off The Block Blocker of the Year…had four service aces…season-high 10 blocks in four-set win over Long Beach State (March 18)…posted seven blocks against Pacific (March 11 and 12) and Cal State Northridge (April 1)…two block solos against Stanford (Jan. 23), LBSU (March 18), and BYU (March 25)…season-high four kills on six attempts against Pepperdine (March 5).

Prep: A 2010 graduate of Majory Stoneman Douglas High School in Coral Springs, Fla…lettered four years in volleyball…led team to the district playoffs while earning all-district first team honors as a junior...named to all-tournament team at 18Us Junior National Tournament.

Personal: Born in Boston, Mass…nickname is “Big Red”…has two sisters…parents are Rick and Patti Welch of Coral Springs, Fla.
