Biography

2001: Started all 12 games at right guard...named second-team all-WAC...one of only four players in the WAC to be named to the "watch list" for the Outland Trophy and Lombardi Award...led the team with 53 "de-cleaters"...earned high grades against Miami-Ohio (90 percent), Air Force (88 percent), and San Jose State (88 percent).

2000: Started 11 games, nine at right guard and two at right tackle...an honorable mention all-WAC pick named the team's co-Most Inspirational Player...able to play all positions on the line...finished the season with a team-high 49 "de-cleaters."

1999: Played in all 12 games, primarily on special teams.

Prep: A 1999 graduate of Farrington High School in Honolulu...garnered three letters in both football and track while earning two letters in basketball and one in paddling...belonged to the Kalihi Kai Paddling Club...played under head coach Skippa Diaz...a first and second team all-star and all-state pick in football as well as Samoan second team all-star...first team all-league and second team all-state in discus...a second team all-leaguer in shot put.

Personal: Born in Honolulu...chose Hawai`i to play in front of his family...also recruited by Utah and Oregon State...had one relative-Manly Williams-play for the Rainbow Warriors...has five younger brothers and one younger sister...parents are Ellen Craig of Woodbridge, Va., and Stewart Vaefaga of Portland, Ore.
