2008: Taking the season off to try out for the 2008 Australian Olympic Team.

2007 (Sophomore): Smethurst has hit career-highs in 2007...recorded a 19-9 record with a 1.73 ERA in 186.0 innings pitched...has 21 complete games and 10 shut outs this season...was named first-team All-West Region and second team all-WAC as a pitcher...was named to the Hawaiian Airlines Spring Fling all-tournament team...awarded the WAC pitcher of the week honors four times (Feb 12, Mar 12, Apr 9, Apr 30)...pitched a no-hit, shut out against Utah St. on April 28 with two walks and 10 strike outs...struck out a career high 13 batters against Santa Clara on Apr. 3...and had 6 games with 10 strike outs or more...hit .373 ( 3-for-8) in the season with her first career homerun against Cal-State Northridge in Las Vegas...in the Los Angeles Regionals, fired two shut-outs over UC Santa Barbara (10 innings) and Loyola Marymount (6 innings) to move on to the Super Regionals...the 10 innings against UCSB was a career high.

2006 (Freshman): Appeared in 32 games, starting a team-high 29 as a pitcher...fired three perfect games against Longwood (Mar. 16), Utah State (May 5), and Louisiana Tech (May 11) in the WAC Championship openner...also combined with Jessica Morton on another perfect game at Grambling State (Mar. 27)...led the Rainbow Wahine in six pitching categories, including ERA (1.89), opposing batting average (.186), wins (16), losses (12), innings pitched (170.2) and batters struck out (157)...struck out 11 hitters twice against San Jose State (Apr. 2) and Louisiana Tech in five innings (May 11) en route to two shutout victories...voted to the Paradise Classic all-tournament team...was named WAC Pitcher of the Week twice (Mar. 20 and May 8)...made first-team All-WAC as the "at-large" player.

Prep: 2004 graduate of Shelford Girls Grammar in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia...was member of the Australian National Touring team, the Victorian Institute of Sport, and the Victorian National Team in 2005...also participated in the Waverly Softball Association.

Personal: Born Jan. 14, 1987, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia...majoring in psyhology...favorites include the color purple, chocolate, the movie "50 First Dates;" geography, and the actor Adam Sandler...wants to play softball in the Olympics after graduating from UH...has two sisters, Katrina and parents are Chris and Fran Smethurst of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
