2012 (Senior): Appeared in all 27 matches and played 101 sets at libero… averaged 2.28 digs per set, which ranked 14
th nationally and fourth in the MPSF…also had 41 assists…career-high 22 digs against Grand Canyon (Jan.27)…posted eight double-digit dig matches included both matches against Grand Canyon (22 on Jan. 27 and 15 on Jan. 28) and at USC (13 on March 2 and 12 on March 4)…recorded 18 digs in his final match at the Stan Sheriff Center against Long Beach State (March 31)...named to MPSF all-academic team.
2011 (Junior): Appeared in all 28 matches and 102 sets as the starting libero…averaged 1.71 digs per match…also had 61 assists…reception percentage of 96.3…season-high 13 digs at UC Irvine (Feb. 22) and Cal State Northridge (April 1)…had nine digs against Stanford (Jan. 23), Cal Baptist (Feb. 12), UCLA (Feb. 19), Pepperdine (March 5), and Long Beach State (March 19).
Prior To UH: Attended Irvine Valley College for two years…member of 2010 Pacific Coast Conference championship team…named the conference’s player of the year in 2010 after averaging 4.03 digs per set…had 28 digs in a five-set match against Orange Coast College…also selected first-team all-conference in 2009.
Prep: A 2007 graduate of Assets High School in Honolulu, O‘ahu…lettered four years in basketball and three years each in volleyball and baseball…played volleyball for Maryknoll School since Assets did not field a program…named all-state second team in 2007 and first-team all-league…as a junior, selected all-state honorable mention and first-team all-league…in basketball, named second-team all-league from 2004-07…an honorable mention all-league selection in baseball…played club volleyball for Asics and Outrigger.
Personal: Born in Honolulu, O‘ahu…intends to major in American studies…has one sister…parents are Randy and Jeanne Castello of Honolulu, O‘ahu.
