FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team opened its 2026-27 season on Monday, posting a 36-hole total of 587 (+11) to sit tied for ninth place after the first day of the Ben Connell Ram Classic at Ptarmigan Country Club.
Freshman
Kady Matsumoto delivered a standout performance in her collegiate debut, pacing the Rainbow Wahine with back-to-back even-par rounds of 72. Highlighting her impressive first start on the college circuit, Matsumoto rolled in 11 birdies across her two rounds to head into the clubhouse tied for 19
th place at even-par 144.
Purdue Fort Wayne transfer
Olivia Jang also made her UH debut on Monday, turning in solid rounds of 73 and 74 and is tied for 35
th place at 3-over 147. She sits alongside sophomore
Kaydence Kim, who bounced back from an opening 75 with an even-par 72 in round two to also sit at 147 (+3).
Junior
Jasmine Wong carded an even-par 72 in her opening round before wrapping up the day at 6-over 150 (T-49), while sophomore
Chloe Ku completed the UH lineup at 158 (+14, 74th).
UNLV holds the 36-hole team lead in the 13-team field at 12-under 564 after firing a blistering 10-under 278 in the second round. The season-opening tournament features strong conference representation, with five Mountain West programs competing alongside Hawai'i, including UNLV (1st, 564), UC Davis (3rd, 571), Wyoming (T-9th, 587), and Nevada (11th, 589).
The Ram Classic concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes, scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. MT shotgun start.
