The University of Hawai'i women's golf team will tee off its 2026-27 season at the Ben Connell Ram Classic, running Monday, Sept. 21, and Tuesday, Sept. 22, in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Hosted by Colorado State, the 54-hole season-opening tournament will be held at the Ptarmigan Country Club. Participants will play 36 holes on Monday and conclude with a final 18-hole round on Tuesday. Both days of competition will begin with an 8:30 a.m. MT shotgun start.
The tournament will be played on a Jack Nicklaus-designed private course located approximately one hour north of Denver. For the Ben Connell Ram Classic, the course will be set to a maximum yardage of 6,589 yards.
The Rainbow Wahine will face a competitive 13-team field to open the fall schedule. Joining Hawai'i and host Colorado State are Cal Poly, Nebraska, Nevada, Northern Colorado, San Diego State, Southern Mississippi, UC Davis, UNLV, Washington, Washington State, and Wyoming.
This marks UH's return to the Ptarmigan Country Club, having most recently competed in the event (formerly known as the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic) during the 2023-24 season. Prior to that, UH also made an appearance at the tournament in 2016.
The 2026-27 campaign marks the fifth season for head coach
Julie Brooks at the helm of the program. Last season, Brooks led the Rainbow Wahine to a 301.70 season scoring average, which stands as the third-lowest mark in program history.
This year also ushers in a new era for the Rainbow Wahine, as the team embarks on their first season competing as a member of the Mountain West Conference. The tournament will offer an early look at several new conference foes, with UH competing alongside fellow Mountain West programs Nevada, UNLV, and Wyoming.
The Rainbow Wahine lineup features
Kady Matsumoto,
Kaydence Kim,
Jasmine Wong,
Chloe Ku, and
Olivia Jang. Matsumoto, a freshman from Mililani High School on O'ahu, and Jang, a transfer from Purdue Fort Wayne, will both be making their UH debuts. Wong returns to the lineup after finishing as the team's second-leading scorer last season with a 75.13 average, while Kim and Ku round out the contingent as they both enter their sophomore seasons.
