HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i men's golf program has announced its 2026-27 schedule, marking a historic campaign as the Rainbow Warriors enter their inaugural season in the Mountain West conference. The upcoming season features a slate of four home events alongside several premier road tournaments.
 
The Rainbow Warriors will host two events in the fall and two in the spring, providing local fans multiple opportunities to see the team in action. The home schedule features stops in four islands, showcasing the program's strong ties across the state.
 
The crown jewel of the home schedule will be the spring season's John A. Burns Intercollegiate, which celebrates a monumental milestone with its 50^th season. Recognized as the seventh-longest running event in collegiate men's golf, "The Burns" will be contested from Feb. 11-13, in Lihue, Kaua'i. This will mark the 14th time the prestigious tournament is hosted on the island.
 
In addition to "The Burns," UH will host the Ka'anapali Classic by OUTRIGGER from Oct. 26-28 in Ka'anapali for the 12^th time in program history. Just a week later, the team returns to O'ahu to host the Pearl at Kalauao Invitational in 'Aiea, O'ahu, from Nov. 4-5. The tournament debuted in 2025 and will be played for the second consecutive year. To open the spring schedule, the Amer Ari Intercollegiate will be played in Waimea, Hawai'i from Feb. 4-6. UH and Hawai'i Hilo are the co-hosts.
 
The Rainbow Warriors will also challenge themselves with a demanding schedule on the continent. The fall season tees off at the CDA National Reserve Invitational in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho from Sept. 21-22, followed by the Tall City Classic in Midland, Texas from Oct. 12-13. The spring road slate features trips to California and Washington, including the RE Lamkin Invitational in San Diego, Calif., from March 8-9, and the Pathway to Progress Invitational in Napa, Calif., from March 22-23. The team will also make their annual trek to the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, Calif., from April 12-14, and the Redhawk Invitational in University Place, Wash., from April 19-20.
 
This season carries added significance as UH will be playing its inaugural season in the Mountain West conference. The transition brings a new level of competition and fresh conference rivalries for the program. The season will culminate at the Mountain West Championship, scheduled for April 27-29, in Palm Desert, Calif.
 
On the course, the Rainbow Warriors return a veteran core of six golfers. Anson Cabello returns after serving as the scoring leader last fall before sitting out the spring. The lineup will also welcome back Josh Hayashida, the team leader in scoring during the 2024-25 season, who sat out all of last year due to injury. They are joined by Dane Watanabe, who earned All-Big West honorable mention honors last season while boasting a team-leading 72.97 scoring average.
 
Guiding the program into this new era is head coach Scott Simpson, who begins his sixth season leading the Rainbow Warriors. Under Simpson's leadership, the team looks to blend the experience of its returnees with the excitement of a new conference landscape.
